Would you like to further your education beyond the boundaries of your degree program? Are you interested in finding out how diverse academic disciplines work (together) and how they can be combined? You like thinking outside the box, are naturally curious and have always wanted to know more? Then the Q+ program is the right place for you! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q+ is a flexible add-on program to your normal JGU degree program which allows you to expand your studies within an interdisciplinary group of students coming from all faculties. Together we tackle current scientific and social issues. Our interdisciplinary Q+ courses are developed by Q+ students, JGU instructors, as well as external cooperating partners from all over the world. In addition, as a Q+ student you also gain access to selected courses and lectures from the regular JGU course catalogue of JGU that you could not attend otherwise, and we are also offering exciting internships, field trips and (international) exchange opportunities. After your successful participation in a certain number of courses you will receive the Q+ certificate of completion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our program mostly offers two types of courses: Q+ courses<\/strong> that have been designed exclusively and specifically for Q+ students and select cross-listed courses<\/strong> (open courses) that are regularly offered in the JGU semester course catalogue from a range of disciplines and are open for Q+ students to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Q+ courses, a special focus is placed on the topic of \u201cKnowledge and Scholarship: Epistemology and Reflections on Academic Work,\u201d which outlines fundamental questions concerning the creation and safeguarding of academic knowledge in the disciplines, but also the history, role, and responsibility of science and scholarship in our society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Q+ study program includes a wide range of learning formats, including seminars, block seminars, workshops, conferences, research-based internships, projects, and field trips. You are free to choose from our course catalog<\/a> each semester. So you decide for yourself which Q+ courses and open courses you would like to attend. You can attend as many courses as you like. However, you are also welcome to take a break, e.g. because you are writing your bachelor’s thesis, are abroad, or have personal reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two main types of courses at Q+: Our Q+ courses are newly conceptualized and organized by the Q+ team each semester. The core area knowledge and scholarship outlines fundamental questions concerning the creation and safeguarding of academic knowledge in the disciplines, but also the history, role, and responsibility of science and scholarship in our society. The topics at Q+ are current and diverse, and we strive to respond to the interests of our students. Please feel free to contact us if you have any requests or ideas for a Q+ course! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The open courses offered by the departments at JGU are taught by instructors who open their regular courses to Q+students. For example, as a physics student, you can take part in a theology seminar that would otherwise not be open to you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to successfully complete the Q+ program, you must earn a total of 20 credit points (CP) during your participation, which may extend beyond your bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and into your doctoral studies. The number of CP per course is based on the amount of work and time required and is specified for each course. To receive your certificate, you must have successfully completed at least two Q+ courses, at least one of which must be from the core area Knowledge and Scholarship. You can also earn an additional 10 CP for an advanced certificate of completion of the Q+ study program, for a total of 30 CP. In both variants, especially the extended one, an international exchange to suitable partner institutions is also possible. This is done in close coordination with the departments. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

If you do not achieve the 20 credit points, we will nonetheless issue you with a certificate of your achievements. This means that you will receive a Q+ certificate in any case! <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-heading>\n\n\n\n

JGU students<\/strong> who are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degree programs (Bachelor, Master, state exam, PhD etc.) and who are at least in their 2nd university semester at the time of application. The reason is that students should first settle into the university and their program of study before starting a supplementary program with Q+. Only students who are in their very first semester at any higher education institution cannot apply for Q+. However, if you have already studied for a semester at another higher education institution or in another subject and are in your first bachelor’s semester in your new subject at JGU, you can apply for Q+. And if you are in a master\u2019s degree program, you can definitely apply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, RMU students<\/strong> who are enrolled at Goethe University Frankfurt or Technical University Darmstadt can apply for Q+.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-modal><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Q+Community<\/a> consists of open-minded, curious, motivated, critically thinking, and socially-minded individuals from all disciplines who actively help shape our program. To achieve this, we need commitment from all participating students and teachers so that we can jointly explore socially relevant topics and work on them in an interdisciplinary manner. Applying for the Q+ study program requires some effort, but it serves to assess the motivation of applicants, which is necessary for regular participation in Q+. At Q+, students and teachers greatly appreciate this committed and reliable type of community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, as a small program with limited staff and resources, we are only able to manage a limited number of participants.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-modal><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
